Wonders Early Learning + Extended Day

FALL 2020 PROGRAM INFORMATION

Strategies to Practice Social Distancing
How is Wonders practicing social distancing?
  • Staggering arrival and dismissal time for children
  • Prohibit parents/ guardians and visitors  from entering the building
  • Maintaining 6 feet distance between children and staff when direct care is not being provided
  • Creating distance (6 feet) between tables and other spaces occupied by children
  • Incorporating outside play time one group outside at a time
  • Limiting item sharing
  • Avoiding mixing of groups of children and teachers
We use our playgrounds to promote outdoor play. Only one group uses the playground at a time and each group has designated play toys that are cleaned and disinfected daily.

Wonders Early Learning at Edgemoor and Wonders Early Learning at Leland are open and accepting registration. The health and safety of the children, families, and educators of Wonders Early Learning + Extended Day has always been our top priority. The CDC and local health department guidelines, along with MSDE licensing regulations are informing our policies and procedures. It is always our commitment and especially now during this ongoing public health crisis, that we create and maintain conditions where all families enroll with the knowledge and promise of mutual trust, transparency, and respect for our community’s health and well being. Our programs are NAEYC accredited and teach the foundations of lifelong learning and social responsibility. Our professional and creative teachers support the interests of each child, helping children grow in social-emotional and cognitive skill development through hands-on experimentation with materials and concepts. Curriculum planning in all of our early childhood programs is guided by The Creative Curriculum, a comprehensive, research-based approach to teaching. We believe in using teaching methods that match the way children develop and learn.

Montgomery County COVID-19 School Age Subsidy Program
Montgomery County is now providing $5.6 million in tuition assistance for full-day, school-age child care services offered by licensed child care providers.
Wonders accepts the Maryland State Childcare Subsidy Program, Working Parents Assistance Program, and now COVID-19 School-Age Subsidy Program.
What does this mean for your family?
Families attending Distance Learning Hub Programs at Bethesda, Chevy Chase and Little Falls may be eligible for this program. With income limits increased, more families can now apply.
Eligibility for this tuition assistance will be determined separately and differently from existing subsidy programs. The funds will be administered by the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Children, Youth and Families.
To be eligible for these services, a child must
  • live in the County,
  • be enrolled in MCPS, and
  • actively attend a full-day child care program.
Based on your income you may be eligible to apply for assistance from three different sources. You will be required to apply for existing subsidy programs before you can be enrolled in the CSSP.
