Program Overview
Wonders Early Learning at Leland
Wonders Early Learning at Leland, serving children 18 months to 5 years old, is a proud part of the neighborhood in the Town of Chevy Chase. Just three blocks from the heart of Bethesda, this cozy center of three classrooms is in the Jane E. Lawton Community Center which also houses an active recreation center and the administrative offices of the Town of Chevy Chase.
In addition to our private playground for Wonders children, there is a community playground in front of the building that is a frequent gathering place for Leland families and neighbors, especially at pick up time.
Wonders at Leland Curriculum
Wonders believes in programming that offers an array of opportunities and resources to children and families. In addition to our engaging curriculum, a variety of valuable services are included in our monthly tuition, including:

  • bi-annual parent/teacher conferences
  • learning adventures
  • family fun events
  • parent workshops
  • friendship workshops
  • classroom and individual assessment and consultation from Child Development Consultants, Inc.
  • nutritious hot lunch from Good Food Company
  • twice daily healthy snacks
  • NAEYC accreditation
  • This inclusive philosophy ensures that enrolled children can fully participate in all activities that are offered.
Children Study Their World
Our Pre-K classrooms use Children Study Their World, a comprehensive curriculum developed by the University of Maryland that is fully aligned with MSDE’s Early Learning Standards and their Kindergarten Readiness Assessment. This curriculum is hands-on and experiential. It was based on research showing children learn best by exploring and constructing their understanding of their world. Children Study Their World (CSW) is organized around project-based inquiry and provides daily math and literacy small group experiences. It was developed in a partnership with The Smithsonian and has a significant community outreach component. Click here to learn more about Children Study Their World.
Curriculum Planning
Curriculum planning in all of our early childhood programs is guided by The Creative Curriculum, a comprehensive, research-based approach to teaching.
We believe in using teaching methods that match the way children develop and learn. Wonders’ early childhood programs are designed to nurture each child’s social and emotional development while providing learning experiences that enhance development.
