FOR CHILDREN ENTERING GRADE 3-GRADE 6

Trailblazers explore the world around us through the weekly themes. Group bonding and community spirit are hallmarks of this tight-knit group of older campers. Wonders Counselors lead the way through D.C.’s urban highlights and near-by wilderness outposts. Trailblazers call it fun!

Alternating weeks of Wonders Shuttle Bus transportation with weeks of Metro Bus & Transit travel allows the Trailblazers to see the city in different ways. Each week, the Trailblazers investigate our theme with daily active field trips, from our back yard in Rock Creek Park to museums on the National Mall, and further afield to exciting destinations in Maryland and Virginia. And we are sure to build in at least one recreational swimming session each week! Weekly field trip itineraries are sent to parents in advance.

WEEKLY THEMES

Around the World: Circle the globe without leaving the DC metro area. Campers will have a world of fun learning about different cultures through music, cuisine, games and history.

Artregeous: Calling all budding artists – campers will spend the week exploring their creative sides. We’ll learn about artists and techniques and try out a variety of art materials and processes, working together to create our summer camp spaces.

Mad Science: A mad week at camp will get kids excited about learning and blown away by hair-raising experiments! Campers will have the opportunity to participate in wild and wacky hands-on projects and science-related activities and games.

The Great Outdoors: Campers will discover resources right outside our doors in nearby Rock Creek Park and other local parks. Their adventure will include learning camp songs, roasting s’mores, taking nature walks, and building a clubhouse!

Wonders Olympics: Campers will challenge themselves and each other while developing leadership and building skills through a variety of team sports and non-competitive games.
