It is with great pride that we announce that the Wonders at Edgemoor Children’s Center has successfully completed the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Accreditation renewal process and we have achieved a new, five-year term of NAEYC Accreditation. We’d like to congratulate everyone – our administrative team, teaching staff and all our Edgemoor families – for continuing to uphold the mark of quality represented by the NAEYC Accreditation system.
Among the many areas that we received commendations for, the NAEYC Academy commends our program for the high level of compliance with regard to families and noted, “recognizing the importance of a reciprocal relationship between families and programs is essential to ensure that programs are meeting the needs of the children and families that the program serves.” The NAEYC Academy also commends our program for “promoting positive relationships among all children and adults to encourage each child’s sense of individual worth and belonging as part of a community and to foster each child’s ability to contribute as a responsible community member.” The NAEYC Academy particularly commends us for “employing and supporting a teaching staff that has the educational qualifications, knowledge, and professional commitment necessary to promote children’s learning and development and to support families’ diverse needs and interests” and “for using developmentally, culturally and linguistically appropriate and effective teaching approaches that enhance each child’s learning and development in the context of the program’s curriculum goals”.
In the 25 years since NAEYC Accreditation was established, it has become a widely recognized sign of high-quality early childhood education. We’re all very proud to have earned the mark of quality from NAEYC and to be recognized for our commitment to reaching the highest professional standards.
